The volume of road freight transportation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan increased 6.5 times

In 2023, 354 thousand tons of cargoes were transported by road between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. This became known during the talks between trade ministers of the two countries Laziz Kudratov and Jam Kamal Khan. This is 299.5 thousand tons or 550% more than in 2022.

Customs Terminal to Open on Kazakh-Uzbek Border

The construction of a new customs terminal at the Dovut-Ota border post in Karakalpakstan, an autonomous republic of Uzbekistan, is nearing completion, the Uzbek Customs Committee’s press service reported on Oct. 21.

Covering six hectares, the terminal is equipped with modern technology and features nearby amenities such as hotels, technical service points, and a parking lot capable of holding 350 trucks.

The opening of the border post coincides with the completion of the Kungrad-Beinee road, which is expected to boost foreign trade efficiency through Dovut-Ota.

Earlier this year, repairs at other customs posts, including Zhibek Zholy-Gishtkoprik and Kaplanbek-Navoi, are set to triple the cross-border capacity between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

A 6-hectare customs terminal is being completed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said. It is located at the Daut-ata border post on the Uzbek-Kazakh border. The new customs terminal is planned to be opened immediately after the completion of construction of the 240-kilometer section of the Kungrad-Beyneu highway.

Sumitomo Corporation plans to build a logistics center in Uzbekistan

Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Akram Aliyev discussed a joint project in the spheres of automobile construction and logistics with Norihiko Nonaka, director of the automobile group of Japanese Sumitomo Corporation.

It envisages construction of a logistics center and creation of a duty-free trade zone in Uzbekistan.

This will allow organizing deliveries of cars and auto parts to both local and foreign markets.

The parties do not announce the estimated terms of the project realization and its cost.

The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade did not inform about the signing of agreements or any other documents as a result of the meeting.

China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railroad Company” has been established

Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov took part in the opening of the “China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company” LLC in Bishkek, the government reported.

“We highly appreciate this project and call it the construction of the century. It will bring economic interaction between China and Central Asian countries to a qualitatively new level,” he emphasized.

China will allocate a $2.35 billion loan for the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad project.
